Every proposal uses one of two payment structures. The DJ chooses which, and it's stated under **Payment Structure & Schedule** in the proposal terms.

## Full Amount

You pay the whole cost to confirm. One payment, and the booking is confirmed as soon as it clears.

## Deposit

You pay a deposit now to confirm the date, and the remaining balance falls due **7 days before your event**.

The deposit is either a fixed amount or a percentage of the total. The proposal shows **Deposit**, **Due Later**, and **Total Due** so you can see all three figures before accepting.

## The part to pay attention to

On a deposit booking, if the remaining balance isn't paid by its due date, **the event is canceled and the deposit is forfeited**. You'll see this stated on your confirmed event under a **Heads up...** notice, with the exact date.

This isn't a penalty someone applies by hand — it's how the booking works. So:

- Note the due date when you accept
- Keep the card on your account current
- If money is going to be tight that week, tell the DJ before the date rather than after

See [When Your Remaining Balance Is Due](/hc/clients/articles/1786145506-when-your-remaining-balance-is-due).

## Which is better for you

A deposit spreads the cost and keeps money in your account longer, which usually makes it the better option on a booking made months ahead.

Full amount means it's done. Nothing to remember, no risk of losing a deposit to a missed date. Reasonable if the total is small or the event is soon.

You don't choose — the DJ sets it. If a deposit structure genuinely doesn't suit you, ask; some will accommodate.

## Cancelling

The cancellation deadline is a separate thing from the payment schedule. Cancel before the date in **Cancellation Policy** and you get a full refund. After it, what you've paid may be forfeited. See [Canceling Your Event](/hc/clients/articles/1786145507-canceling-your-event).

## Changes after you've paid

If you add hours during the event, that's a separate payment. See [Adding Extra Hours While Your Event Is Running](/hc/clients/articles/1786047502-extending-an-event-adding-extra-hours).
