Notification preferences are under **Settings → Account**, in the **Preferences** section, under **Notifications**.

## How it works

Updates are grouped into categories, and each has its own switches for the channels it supports:

- **Email**
- **SMS**
- **Push**

So you can take booking updates by email and payment reminders by SMS, or turn a category off entirely.

Switching a channel off completely tells you what you'll lose — for example, *You will no longer receive any email notifications from DJfindr.*

## The categories

Your list won't necessarily match this one exactly. Categories depend on your account and how you use DJfindr, and we add and retire them as features change. These are the ones most clients have:

| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| **Events** | Proposals arriving, status changes, and reminders about your booking |
| **Payments** | Payments due, receipts, failed payments, and refunds |
| **Messages** | New messages from your DJ |
| **Reviews** | Reminders to review your DJ after the event |
| **Account** | Sign-in, security, and changes to your account |
| **Marketing** | Offers and announcements from DJfindr |
| **Product Updates** | New features and changes to the platform |
| **The Dispatch Blog** | New posts on our blog |

If you see a category that isn't listed here, its name describes what it covers. New ones appear as we ship features, and a category tied to something you don't use may not show at all.

## Leave these on

Three categories are worth real money:

**Payments.** On a deposit booking, the remaining balance is due 7 days before your event. Miss it and the event is canceled and your deposit is forfeited. This is the one not to turn off.

**Events.** Proposals arrive here, and they expire. If one lands and you don't see it, you can lose the DJ and the date.

**Messages.** Your DJ asking a question the week before your event.

**Marketing**, **Product Updates**, and **The Dispatch Blog** are the safe ones to switch off.

## SMS

There's an **SMS Opt-in** switch. Turning it on means you agree to receive transactional SMS from DJfindr for the categories you've selected. Standard message rates apply and you can opt out any time.

Worth enabling for payment reminders specifically — an SMS reaches you when an email sits unread.

Check your phone number under **Personal** is current first.

## The notification bell

The bell in the header shows in-app notifications regardless of these settings. Filter by **All** or **Unread**, use **Mark all read**, or select one to jump to what it's about.

## If nothing is arriving

1. Check your spam folder
2. Check the category is still on here
3. Check the email address under **Personal** is one you actually read
4. For SMS, check the number is right and **SMS Opt-in** is on

## Before your event

A week out, make sure payment and message notifications are on. That's the window where missing one costs you something.
