Deactivating removes your access to DJfindr. Before you do it, there are things to settle.

## Settle these first

**Upcoming events.** A confirmed booking is an agreement with a DJ who has held your date. Deactivating doesn't cancel it and doesn't refund you. If you're not going ahead, cancel properly first — and check your cancellation deadline, because that's what determines whether you get your money back. **Pending refunds.** If a refund is in progress, let it complete. It returns to your card either way, but tracking it is easier with access.

**Documents you want to keep.** Download your proposals, signed documents, and receipts before you go. See [Downloading Documents and Your Proposal](/hc/clients/articles/downloading-documents-and-proposal-details).

**Reviews you meant to leave.** Once you're out, you can't.

## How to deactivate

1. Go to **Settings → Account**.
2. Scroll to **Security** and find **Deactivate Account**.
3. Select **Deactivate**.
4. Confirm your password.
5. Tick **I understand that I will lose access to DJfindr**.
6. Select **Deactivate**, then confirm.

## Coming back

There's no self-serve reactivation. If you try to log in you'll be told the account is deactivated and to contact support. Email **support@djfindr.com** from the address on the account and we can reactivate it.

This is deliberate — it means deactivating isn't a door that locks behind you.

## Do you need to?

If it's about email volume, turn notifications off instead — **Settings → Account → Preferences → Notifications**. That stops the messages without losing your booking history, your receipts, or your ability to leave a review.

## Deleting your data

Deactivating suspends access rather than erasing your data. If you want your personal data removed, email **support@djfindr.com** and ask. Some records tied to completed events and payments are kept where we're required to keep them — our privacy policy sets out what and for how long.

## Don't just make a new account

If you're coming back, reactivate. A new account starts empty — no past events, no receipts, no conversations with DJs you liked.
