A proposal is the DJ's formal offer: what they'll do, what it costs, and the terms. Read it properly — accepting it and paying creates the agreement.
You'll find it under the Proposal tab of your event, and the status will read Review Offer.
The top section
Client, DJ, Location, Date & Time, Duration, and Event Details. Check these against what you asked for before anything else — a wrong date or a duration that doesn't match is the most common thing to catch.
There's also A note from the DJ, where they'll often explain their approach or flag something about your event.
Service Breakdown
A table with Service / Item, Quantity, and Amount, grouped into:

Then three figures: Deposit, Due Later, and Total Due.
Check each extra you asked for is there. If one is missing, the DJ may not be able to supply it — worth asking before you accept.
Proposal Terms
The part that matters most, and the part most people skim.
Expiration Date — the proposal is valid until this date. After it, you'll need to ask for a new one.
Payment Structure & Schedule — either Deposit or Full Amount. On a deposit, the remaining balance falls due 7 days before your event. See Deposit vs Full Amount.
Cancellation Policy — states the date up to which you can cancel for a full refund. After that date, what you've paid may be forfeited. This single date is the most important thing in the document.
Requisites — what the DJ needs from you or the venue. Parking, power, a meal, storage. Read this and check you can actually provide it.
Equipment — what they're bringing.
Documents — the agreements you'll complete. See Signing Booking Documents.
Before you accept
- Date, time, and duration match what you want
- The venue address is right
- Every extra you asked for is listed and priced
- You can meet the requisites
- You've noted the cancellation date
- The total is what you expected
If something's wrong
Don't accept and sort it out later. Message the DJ and ask for a revision, or reject the proposal — they can send a new one. See Rejecting a Proposal and Asking for a New One.
