If a proposal isn't right, you can reject it. Rejecting doesn't end things — it's usually the start of a negotiation.
How to reject
On the Progress tab, select Reject.
The status becomes Offer Rejected, and you'll see You've rejected the DJ's proposal — Message the DJ with feedback to receive an updated offer, or the event may be declined.
Say why, immediately
This is the part that matters. Rejecting silently usually ends the booking, because the DJ has no idea what to change.
Select Message DJ and be specific:
- "The total is above our budget — could we look at four hours instead of six?"
- "We don't need the photobooth after all"
- "The start time should be 8pm, not 6pm"
- "Could we do a smaller deposit?"
A concrete message gets a revised proposal. "Too expensive" usually gets nothing.
How the back-and-forth works
Proposals are built and sent by the DJ, so the way to change one is to reject it, say what you'd like different, and let them send a revised version. That round trip is the negotiation.
What to ask for
Reduce the scope rather than the price. Asking a DJ to do the same work for less is a harder conversation than asking for fewer hours or fewer extras. You'll often get a better outcome, and a DJ who feels fairly paid does a better job.
Question specific lines. The proposal is itemised for a reason. If travel looks high or an extra costs more than you expected, ask about that line rather than the total.
Ask about the terms, not just the money. A deposit that's too large or a cancellation window that's too tight are both negotiable with some DJs.
If they won't budge
That's a legitimate answer. A DJ whose price reflects their work isn't obliged to discount it. Drop the proposal and look at other DJs — see Reusing an Existing Event for Another DJ.
Rejecting vs dropping
Reject turns down this offer and invites a new one. The booking stays live.

Nothing is charged
Rejecting costs nothing. Money only enters after you accept and pay.
