Guided Search asks five questions and turns your answers into a filtered search. It's the easiest way to start if you've never hired a DJ before.
Opening it
Select Hire a DJ in the top navigation. On the search page, Adjust in the sidebar reopens it with your current answers.
You'll see Find the perfect DJ for your event — We'll guide you to discovering the DJ for you.
The five steps
1. Where is the event happening? Type your city or state. Use the venue's location if it differs from yours — DJs are matched on where they'll travel.
2. What's the occasion? Pick your event type from the tiles.
3. Which genres or vibes should they play? Pick the styles you want. Fewer is better here — every genre you add narrows the results to DJs who list all of them.
4. Which extras matter most? Things like MC services, lighting, a photobooth, or early arrival. Only pick what you'd genuinely want, for the same reason.
5. What's your budget? A slider for the maximum hourly rate you want to see.
Move with Next and Previous. The last step runs the search.
On budget
The slider filters on hourly rate, which isn't the same as what an event costs. A DJ at a higher rate for four hours can come in below a cheaper DJ booked for eight. Set it a little above your comfortable number so you don't cut off DJs you'd actually consider — you can always narrow later.
Adjusting afterwards
Everything you chose becomes a normal filter on the search page, so you can change any of it directly in the sidebar. Clear all resets, and Adjust reopens the guided flow.
If your results are thin
Step back through and loosen the genres and the extras first. Those two are usually what emptied the list. Location is the one to keep.
Nothing is committed
Guided Search only filters results. You're not sending anything to anyone, and you don't need an account to use it.
