Not every request becomes a booking. Here's what each outcome means and what to do next.
The DJ declined your request
You'll see Request declined — The DJ is unavailable or unable to take this booking. If they gave a reason, it's shown.
No further action is possible on that proposal. Two buttons: Review other proposals if you've asked other DJs, and Find another DJ to search again.
Declines are usually about availability, not about you. DJs decline dates they're already booked, venues outside their area, and events that don't suit what they do.
The proposal expired
Every proposal has an Expiration Date. Pass it without responding and the status becomes Expired — You didn't respond to this proposal in time, you can message the DJ to request a new one.
Your options: Message DJ to ask for a fresh one, Find another DJ, or Drop Proposal to close it off.
Expiry isn't a rejection. DJs set a window so they know whether to hold your date. Message them and most will send a new proposal — though the price may have changed and your date may have gone.
You rejected the proposal
If you rejected it, you'll see You've rejected the DJ's proposal — Message the DJ with feedback to receive an updated offer, or the event may be declined.
The important part: rejecting doesn't end the conversation. Message them with what didn't work — the price, the hours, a missing extra — and they can send a revised proposal. Rejecting silently usually ends it, because they've no idea what to change.
See Rejecting a Proposal and Asking for a New One.
Nothing was charged
In all three cases, no money changed hands. Proposals only ever become chargeable once you accept and go to payment.
Your event stays
The event itself is separate from the proposal. If you asked several DJs, the others are still live under Events — and you can send the same event details to more DJs without filling the form in again. See Requesting the Same Event From Several DJs.
Avoiding expiry next time
Proposals usually run one to two weeks. If you're waiting on someone else before deciding, message the DJ and say so — most will extend rather than let it lapse.
