Three parts of a DJ's profile answer practical questions before you contact them. Two are in the About tab, one in Policies.
Areas Served
A list of places the DJ will travel to, with a map. Cities and whole states.
Check your venue is covered. If it isn't, the DJ probably won't appear in your location search anyway — but you may have found them another way, and it's worth confirming before you get attached.
A DJ covering a wide area isn't necessarily better. Someone local knows the venues, the parking, and the load-in.
Travel & Logistics
How the DJ handles travel — in the Policies tab. Some charge a flat fee, some by distance, some include it locally.
The actual amount comes on your proposal as Travel & Logistics, so the profile tells you the approach rather than the number.
Worth noting when comparing DJs: one with a lower hourly rate an hour away can end up costing more than a slightly pricier local DJ. Compare Total Due on proposals rather than hourly rates.
Cancellation Policy
Also in Policies, usually as Events can be canceled N day(s) in advance plus the DJ's own wording.
This is the one to read properly. It tells you the last point you can cancel and get your money back. DJs set it themselves, so it varies from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
How to weigh it
A longer window isn't a DJ being difficult. If they turn down other work for your Saturday in December, a late cancellation is a date they can't refill.
What matters is whether it works for you. If there's real uncertainty about your event, a DJ with a 60-day window is a bigger commitment than one with 14.
Ask. Many DJs will discuss it, and terms are set per proposal rather than fixed by the profile.
What appears on your proposal
All three become concrete: Travel & Logistics as a priced line, and the cancellation policy as a specific date — this event can be canceled until [date], for a full refund.

If a section is empty
You'll see something like This DJ has not provided their cancellation policy. Not disqualifying, but worth asking about before you book.
